Well it looks like the Google Play Store is set to add a new Google Edition Android handset this year, in addition to recently unveiled HTC One (M7) and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition handsets, also known as Nexus versions of the two popular Android devices.
As reported by Android Central, its sources have confirmed that Google and Sony are already working on the Sony Xperia Z Google Edition handset which will run the pure Android Jelly Bean 4.2 mobile operating system, free from custom skin found on the original model.
No word yet from these so-called “own sources” about the Xperia Z Nexus device’s release date or its price. Keep in mind that Google is still not announcing the device, so we’re still stuck with two Google Edition handsets at the moment, the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One Google Edition handsets are scheduled to join Google’s online catalog on June 26. The HTC One is cheaper with $599 price tag while the Samsung Galaxy S4 will retail for $649 each. For the US market, both the HTC One and Galaxy S4 are capable to run on T-Mobile and AT&T’s Long Term Evolution networks.
