When the Samsung Galaxy S3 came out last year it came onto the scene with ICS. Now the handset has been given an update to Jelly Bean 4.1 and now Jelly Bean 4.2 is out. We do not know when the update will make it onto the handset but you don’t have to wait as you can get the update if you have the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, as you can install the CyanogenMod ROM.
The update ROM is CM10.1 and if you have the Samsung Galaxy S3 with the version number SGH-i747, you can go ahead and make the update. If you want to install the ROM you should get information from the Cyanogen website and then follow the instructions that are given to update your handset to Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
At this time the ROM is a nightly build and so you could find there are some issues. The issues will be fixed in updates that come later. Also bear in mind that the firmware is not official and this means that instructions to update do have to be carried out carefully.
You should check to make sure that your version of handset is the right one and you have USB Debugging enabled. You will also need to have the correct drivers on the computer.
Back up your handset and install ClockworkMod if it isnt already.
You will also have to download Google Apps APK and the CM10.1 ROM.
Check the instructions below to update the device.
1: Connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 to your computer via micro USB cable.
