Sony has introduced two new sleek cameras that look just like a detachable SLR lens that can connect to any of your smartphones, be it Android or the iPhone through WiFi, powering them to become as good as a high-end digital camera.
Sony announced the two devices – DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 lens-style cameras – during the IFA 2013 in Berlin and this official Sony promo uploaded by Allaboutphones gives a preview of what the device is capable of.
By launching the product Sony has hit back at its Android compatriot Samsung, making its Galaxy Zoom almost redundant.
The device links with your phone via Wi-Fi and NFC enabling one-touch connection and offers variant features including a high-resolution sensor, optical zoom, Optical SteadyShot and manual controls and can shoot from any angle. The phone’s touchscreen is converted into a viewfinder and controller and quite obviously the pictures can be instantly shared using the phone.
The DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 attach to the smartphones with the supplied smartphone attachment and has a width 54-75mm/max, thickness 13mm.
While the device connects to the phone thorough WiFi, extending the range beyond what Bluetooth is capable of, an Android app by Sony - PlayMemories – enables the user to easily operate the camera through the smartphone. It is easier to connect the camera to an NFC-enabled device.
