LG unwraps worlds thinnest 5.2-inch 1080p display phone

LG takes the wraps off the thinnest and brightest 5.2-inch display with full HD 1080p resolution

LG Display, the display arm of LG Electronics has unveiled the world’s slimmest Full HD LCD panel for smartphones. The LCD panel debuted today has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and measures 5.2-inch diagonally and 2.2 mm in thickness. This not only makes it the thinnest FHD panel launched ever, but also the narrowest display.

This new display panel is capable of offering the smartphones a better grip-ability and superior viewing experience. The key behind the new display is called Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS) and, dual flexible printed circuits are inserted between the panel and touch film to reduce the number lines on the display by 30%.

Apart from being the thinnest and narrowest panel, with maximum brightness of 535 nits, this is the brightest mobile FHD LCD panel launch ever. Also, the display offers great level of contrast for easy readability even in direct sunlight.

LG Electronics, LG Chem, LG Display & LG Innotek partnered for the Optimus G that was unveiled last year. The Optimus G Pro featured a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS curved glass display.
