Despite the iPad mini 2 being widely expected to be announced next month with a new Retina display in tow, latest reports have suggested the 7-inch tablet update could miss out on a screen refresh.
Although it is believed that Apple had been planning to give its smaller tablet a Retina display themed makeover, latest iPad mini 2 rumours have suggested that low manufacturing rates have put a dampener on the development, making a Retina iPad mini 2 mass release unlikely.
With the iPad mini 2 release date having been tipped for October 15, supply chain checks have now hinted that the 7.9-inch tablet refresh will be missing as the full sized iPad 5 goes it alone ahead of the pre-Christmas shopping rush.
“The Retina Mini looks less certain for that time," Rhoda Alexander, IHS iSuppli's director of Tablet and Monitor Research said ahead of the planning launch. "Manufacturing volumes on that would match better with a Q1 ‘14 [first quarter 2014] launch."
