HTC may unveil the successor to the Droid DNA/Butterfly on June 19th. While the Desire 600 has already been announced, a report suggests that HTC will launch the handset on the aforementioned date.
The HTC Butterfly (Droid DNA for Verizon) was one of the first phones with a 1080p display, and HTC’s first 5-inch phablet. With the Butterfly, HTC certainly showed the world what it is capable of. But sadly, the handset did not pick up sales, thanks to its somewhat serious (unforgivable by many) drawbacks. A few small mistakes punished the trouble company with an otherwise brilliant product (one of the best displays ever, Super LCD 3). The Droid DNA had a small battery to begin with (for such a powerful, power-hungry Smartphone) as well as limited, non-expandable storage. HTC addressed the storage issue with the Butterfly, but the handset was grossly overpriced in almost all the markets. Couple that with limited availability and people quickly forgot an otherwise destined-for-greatness handset.
