Gitex closes today at 11pm

As the clock counted down today (Saturday, April 26) the last day of Gitex Shopper’s Spring edition, phenomenal crowds turned up at the consumer expo at Dubai World Trade Centre.

By 5pm, there was hardly any place to move as retailers began bombarding the throngs with hourly flash sales and special last-day discounts.

Some products were down by almost 50 per cent.

Most notable were the BlackBerry devices. Sharaf DG was offering two BlackBerry Z10 phones for  Dh1,199. Other retailers had priced the Z10 at Dh699 each.

The price of the more popular BlackBerry Q10 was down to Dh1,299, while the Q5 was at Dh699.

The LG G2 is going for Dh1,699.

The price of Lenovo Vibe X too dropped to Dh999 and some retailers said they had already run out of stocks.
